On Saturday, June 14, a major environmental cleanup action was carried out at Jojkić’s Danube arm.

Initiated by the organizers and supported by 50 volunteers, the action resulted in the collection of large amounts of waste that had been piling up for years along the six-kilometer watercourse. Most of the waste consisted of plastic bottles, which were so numerous that they covered the riverbank surface like an endless sea.

With the help of machinery, construction debris that irresponsible individuals had dumped along the riverbank was also removed.

This action demonstrated that with joint effort and the will of citizens, it is possible to make a difference and help nature partially return to its original state.

The project under which this activity was carried out is supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which, through EU funds, provides resources for such initiatives, while the cleanup itself was carried out by citizens and volunteers.

The organizers announced that this is only the beginning and that in the coming period they will host workshops on environmental protection, open to all interested citizens who wish to get involved and contribute to preserving nature.
